The World ILDO Federation(세계일도연맹, 世界一道聯盟) represents the unity of experts from various martial arts disciplines, coming together with a shared vision. The term "Il" (일 korean language ,一 The Chinese alphabet used in the East of asia) signifies unity and a singular path, while "Do" (도 korean language, 道 The Chinese alphabet used in the East of asia) embodies the philosophy behind martial arts.
Throughout history, from ancient times to the modern era, numerous self-defense techniques have been developed to protect oneself and one’s family in combat.
However, due to invasions by powerful nations and periods of colonization, many traditional martial arts have faced interruptions. Various martial arts organizations have made significant efforts to research and restore these lost traditions.
In the modern era, the focus of martial arts has increasingly shifted towards sportsmanship and physical well-being rather than combat effectiveness. Traditional lethal techniques have gradually faded, making way for martial arts that emphasize health and discipline.
One of the challenges faced by organizations dedicated to preserving traditional martial arts is their disconnection from modern society. For instance, self-defense techniques involving canes or wrist grabs, commonly found in Eastern martial arts, are often perceived as impractical by practitioners in Western countries, where a more realistic and applicable approach is preferred.
The World Il-Do Federation strives to adapt and promote techniques that are relevant to contemporary society. Through seminars and training programs, we continuously update and refine our methods to meet the demands of the modern world.
Our organization comprises experts specializing in various fields such as self-defense, power breaking techniques, kicking, sparring, and Judo falling and Kumdo - korean swordsmanship, the art of cutting objects with a katana. Each discipline is researched, tested, and systematically introduced in different countries by our certified masters.
Self-defense techniques have developed into techniques suited to modern society rather than traditional Korean techniques.
Masters in charge of each field will provide training to all countries that have joined our World ILDO Federation.
We welcome all masters from diverse martial arts backgrounds who wish to join and contribute to the World Il-Do Federation. Together, we will shape the future of martial arts. |
